Alaves have sacked Coach Luis Zubeldia just three months into his reign after a poor start to the season.
A 3-0 home defeat to Villarreal on Sunday was Alaves’ last straw as they sit rock bottom of La Liga, without a point or goal to their name after four matches.
A statement on the Basques’ official website adds Javier Cabello, one of the 37-year-old’s assistants, will take interim charge.
As for who will replace the Argentine, Cadena SER reports Alaves have already made contact with former Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka.
However, the broadcaster notes the Coach declined due to the recent death of his father.
