Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has ruled out a deal for Chelsea’s Diego Costa this week – ‘we will not do anything until January’.
Rumours have gathered pace in both the Spanish and British press that the two clubs – who will meet in the Champions League group stages – have held negotiations for the Spain international’s move this week.
“If his family is moving [to Madrid] then I do not know,” Cerezo told reporters, as covered by Diario AS.
“What I do understand is that Costa is a Chelsea player and until January, there is time to talk to his club and with anybody else.
“We will not do anything until January.”
The 28-year-old is reported to have travelled to the Spanish capital this week amid reports he is looking at buying a house ahead of a potential return to Los Rojiblancos.
