Atletico Madrid are ‘tougher to face than Chelsea’ and are the ‘most complicated’ side in Roma’s Champions League group, says Monchi.
The Italian club’s sporting director was speaking ahead of the meeting in Rome between his club and Diego Simeone’s side in what has been labelled the ‘Group of Death’ in this season’s tournament.
“Atletico Madrid are the most complicated opponents in the group,” Monchi told Movistar Plus.
“They’re a team that knows the tournament perfectly well and in my view are tougher to face than Chelsea.
“They’ve been working together for three to five years, with the same Coach and rarely changing players.
“I am adapting to Italy, both on a personal and professional level – in general, I am satisfied. Sevilla was my home for many years and I miss it, but now I am happy here.
“I am identifying with this new adventure and have to be faithful to a club like Roma that put its trust in me.”
