Barca call for ‘calm’ from fanbase

Barcelona’s sporting director Robert Fernandez has called for ‘calm’ from the club’s fanbase following a chaotic transfer window.

Ahead of Saturday’s clash with Espanyol, 3,000 fans signed a vote of no confidence against the board of Josep Maria Bartomeu after a transfer window where the club’s dealings were heavily criticised.

“We have had a difficult month but the most important thing in times like these is to remain calm,” Fernandez is quoted as saying by Diario Sport.

“In complicated situations, with the summer we've had, calm is necessary. If we let time pass a little, we will see things differently. We respect all opinions of course but the last few weeks have been complicated.

“The people that who have explained things have not done it well and that includes me, among others, but also the media.

“Also, there are things which aren't true. News has come out which is not accurate and this does damage and creates unpleasant situations.”
