Arsenal have identified former Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez to fill the vacant position at their club, say El Mundo Deportivo.
The 56-year-old spent three years in the role at the Camp Nou, joining the club in the summer of 2015 but leaving last June when his contract expired.
Robert had a successful career across two decades in Spanish football and earned 29 caps and scored one goal for the Spanish national team across nine years.
Arsenal are seeking a new sports director following the exit of Sven Mislintat and their failure in pursuit of Monchi, who joined Sevilla this week after leaving Roma.
Andoni Zubizarreta, another former Barca sporting director who is currently at Olympique de Marseille in France, is also said to be being considered by the Gunners.
