Vicente Iborra has lamented the manner of Vitolo’s departure from Sevilla and believes it will have ‘hurt’ the winger.
Both players departed Los Rojiblancos over the summer with Iborra joining Leicester City with Vitolo moving to Atletico Madrid, via a loan spell at Las Palmas.
“Obviously I was watching from a distance, but his exit would not have been easy,” Iborra told Radio Marca.
“The atmosphere was soured from the outset as a lot of parties had their own vested interest and many leaks were made to the media.
“Vitolo played for the club when he was in discomfort with injuries and has deep affection for the club, so it was a shame for it to end this way as it will have hurt him.
“Our departures? Other players will step up and lead the dressing room, it is a natural process and there are strong characters in that squad.
“There are a lot of new arrivals in that squad, as is usual for the club, but I am confident they will continue to enjoy success.”
