Draxler ‘waited’ for Barcelona

Julian Draxler told his Germany international teammates he ‘waited for Barcelona until the last minute’, say reports in Spain.

The Paris Saint-Germain playmaker was one of a host of names linked to the Camp Nou this summer and rumours strengthened following the breakdown in moves for Angel Di Maria and Philippe Coutinho.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, the 23-year-old – who only joined the Parisians from Wolfsburg earlier this year – admitted on international duty of his dreams of moving to the Camp Nou.

No sources or quotes were included in the report, although Barca reportedly were not interested due to ‘technical reasons’, in a similar case to Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri.

The departures of Grzegorz Krychowiak, Jese Rodriguez and Blaise Matuidi may afford Draxler more first-team opportunities at the Parc des Princes this year.
