Barcelona will reportedly sign one of Angel Di Maria or Philippe Coutinho before the transfer window shuts.
According to Sport, Barca are “a step away” from landing Di Maria as talks are progressing “favourably”, despite there being less than three hours until the deadline of 11pm BST.
The Argentine is no longer guaranteed minutes at Paris Saint-Germain after Kylian Mbappe’s arrival, but the newspaper warns they will want more than the €35m offered by the Blaugrana.
Mundo Deportivo, meanwhile, claims Barca are not giving up on Coutinho, despite Liverpool’s steadfast refusal to entertain his sale.
The publication explains the attacking midfielder is still considered “crucial” to the Catalans’ project, while their dream would be to bring in both players.
MD has since added that both clubs are in talks over a transfer, although an agreement has yet to be struck.
In a further update, the Reds have followed Chelsea’s stance on Diego Costa by including Coutinho in their Premier League squad for the season.
