No Diego Costa agreement – report

Atletico Madrid and Chelsea have run out of time to agree the terms of Diego Costa’s transfer in this transfer window, say reports in Spain.

Marca state the two clubs have been locked in lengthy negotiations but have not yet been able to arrive at a compromise, with the striker likely to remain at Stamford Bridge beyond this month.

Los Rojiblancos are unable to register new players until January due to a FIFA-imposed transfer ban so the failure to land a deal would not immediately impact on their plans.

Negotiations are set to continue beyond the current deadline, should a deal not come to fruition, with both clubs intent on the player’s departure by January.

The English champions are reportedly unwilling to soften their stance on the 28-year-old and insist he must face disciplinary action for failure to return to training.
