Setien: Betis fans will win points

Quique Setien admits he is ‘very excited’ ahead of his first game in charge of Real Betis at a new-look Estadio Benito Villamarin.

The home of Los Verdiblancos has been renovated over the past twelve months with the club’s famous Gol Sur rebuilt and the stadium now holds an increased capacity of 60,000.

“It’s going to be something spectacular,” Setien told reporters ahead of his side’s clash with Celta Vigo on Friday night.

“The atmosphere will be incredible and hopefully we can generate that to spur us on and make us even stronger.

“Our fans are going to win us a lot of points this year – the players will give their all in terms of effort and soul to do them justice.

“We must try to forget about failings of recent years and focus on the here and now, it is important we look to our objectives and strive to achieve them.

“We must improve on our performance against Barcelona; some things we did well but others we did not and we must rectify that.

“Celta? There are nuances which differentiate our styles but they will play from the back and attack as a unit, pressing high and being a tough opponent.

“Of course I can imagine Betis in the Champions League – our club is big enough and has the resources to achieve this, so why not?”
