Real Betis defender German Pezzella has joined Serie A outfit Fiorentina on a season-long loan deal, it has been confirmed.
It is reported by various media outlets a compulsory option to buy has been included in the 26-year-old Argentine – who also holds an Italian passport – thought to be around €10m.
The initial loan agreement is set to earn Los Verdiblancos in the region of €1m before the bulk of the payment follows next summer once the move is made permanent.
The central defender signed a new deal at Estadio Benito Villamarin in May and Betis reportedly had no desire to sell him, having rejected an €8m offer from Hamburg earlier this summer.
The former River Plate defender has featured 66 times for the Seville-based club since joining from River Plate two seasons ago as he has become a leading member of the club’s defence under several managers.
