Deportivo La Coruna Coach Pepe Mel has revealed club president Tino Fernandez has promised him Lucas Perez by next week.
The Galician club reportedly had a €12m bid knocked back by Arsenal for the 28-year-old earlier this week, less than a year after selling him for just shy of €21m.
“He has told me yes and I have no choice but to believe him,” Mel is quoted as saying by La Voz De Galicia.
“I have not known the president for a long time but I know how passionate he is for this club and he will do all he can to make this happen.
“It is obvious and well-known just what such a great striker would add to this team; yes it’s a shame he will not be here for Real Madrid but he will improve us a lot.
“The market finishing after two league matches benefits the big club and hurts the humble clubs like Depor, it is a shame.”
