Diego Costa is undeterred by Chelsea allegedly threatening legal action against his non-return to training by stating he will join Atletico Madrid.
The Spain international has remained in Brazil and not returned to training at Stamford Bridge as the fallout following the breakdown in his relationship with Coach Antonio Conte looks set to continue.
“My destination is already set,” read Costa’s statement, which was released via Globoesporte.
“I must return to Atletico Madrid next season.
“It turns out that there is the impasse that Chelsea doesn’t want to release me. But I believe this situation will be resolved now on my return to Spain.”
It has also emerged Deportivo La Coruna and Real Betis would both be willing to take the 28-year-old on loan until January.
