Fiorentina are closing in on the signing of Real Betis defender German Pezzella who had also been a target of Inter, according to reports.
The 26-year-old Argentine – who also holds an Italian passport – was said to be a direct replacement for Valencia-bound Jeison Murillo at the Milanese giants but Sky Sport Italia now report the Viola have swooped.
The central defender signed a new deal at Estadio Benito Villamarin in May and Betis reportedly have no desire to sell him, having rejected an €8m offer from HSV earlier this summer.
However, fresh reports suggest the Serie A side will sign him on loan with a €10m compulsory purchase option attached and Betis are unlikely to demand his €17m release clause.
The former River Plate defender has featured 66 times for the Seville-based club since joining from River Plate two seasons ago as he has become a leading member of the club’s defence under several managers.
