Guangzhou Evergrande boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has confirmed Paulinho’s transfer to Barcelona. “We wish him all the best…”
Reports over the weekend claimed Barca had agreed a €40m deal to sign Paulinho from Guangzhou, and Scolari backed the midfielder to succeed with the Blaugrana.
“Paulinho’s a player with exceptional individual qualities, both for his club and the [Brazilian] national team,” he was quoted as saying by Mundo Deportivo.
“The high price paid by Barcelona for Paulinho is a high level of recognition for Guangzhou Evergrande.
“We wish him all the best and hope he has a bright future. Losing Paulinho is a loss for Evergrande, but it’s also a good thing for Chinese football.”
