Augusto: Atleti want Costa, Oblak…

Augusto Fernandez claims Atletico Madrid “want to have the best players and Diego Costa’s one of them” and is confident Jan Oblak will stay put.

Costa has been linked with a return to Atleti all summer, but their ban on registering new players has made a deal difficult to conduct, while Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly looking to bring in Oblak.

“Costa coming? I have no idea. We want to have the best players play for us, obviously,” the midfielder said after Los Colchoneros’ 1-0 win at Leganes on Saturday.

“Diego Costa’s one of them, but I don’t know if he’ll come or not. It’s not up to me.

“Oblak leaving? If there’s something we have to do, it’s to live for the present and with what we have.

“And today, we have Jan in the dressing room and we’ll stick with that.”

Augusto had been out for almost a year with damaged knee ligaments but completed 90 minutes against Leganes.

“My recovery? I’m feeling good, with a lot of enthusiasm about everything. I waited a long time, so now I’m trying to enjoy myself.

“I’m making progress and getting back up to speed… I’m taking good steps gradually and getting more confident with each day.

“I dedicate a lot of my life to football and sometimes I struggle to find the time to enjoy it.

“Now, because of the injury I had, I try to enjoy everything more. I’m enjoying myself again. The team also make everything easier. I feel better with each day.

“I always want to play and I’ve been competing [for a place] again since returning from my injury.

“After that, the decision is made by the Coach, but we’re obliged to give our all here.”
