Barcelona are considering triggering the €40m release clause of Nice midfielder and Ivory Coast international Jean Michael Seri, say reports.
Diario AS cites a report in L’Equipe that the Blaugrana have ‘accelerated’ their pursuit of the 26-year-old this week and are confident of reaching a deal.
The Catalan club are said to have made an initial approach of €30m and are confident that whilst this will likely be rejected, the two clubs can find a compromise.
The Ivory Coast international has won many plaudits in his first two seasons in Ligue 1 following a 2015 move from Pacos de Ferreira.
El Mundo Deportivo previously nicknamed Seri as ‘the African Xavi’ with the outlet concluding: “if they want Seri, they’ll definitely get him,” citing reports he called the Camp Nou ‘his dream destination’.
