Perez: Madrid won’t sell Bale

Florentino Perez insists Real Madrid “don’t plan on selling” Gareth Bale after their European Super Cup win against Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho had suggested United would try to sign Bale if he didn’t play against his team in Skopje, but the Welshman proceeded to start the match, assisting Isco for Madrid’s winner in a 2-1 victory.

“Every win is important to us, but we’re going step by step,” the President said after the game.

“Bale? I don’t plan on selling him. He’s a Madrid player, he’s important for us and he’s one of the world’s best.

“Signings? I don’t think there will be any more, we already have great players.

“Mine and Zidane’s idea after winning the Champions League was to do nothing and keep the team as it was.

“Barca without Neymar? Barcelona have a great team and it’ll be two very difficult matches against them [in the Supercopa].

“We’ll try to beat them with the same enthusiasm as we had tonight.”
