Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly expressed a desire to return to England at his hearing for alleged tax evasion on Monday.
According to Cadena SER, Ronaldo stated how he did not have tax problems when he played for Manchester United and wanted to go back to England as a result.
“I never had a problem in England, that's why I’d like to go back there,” the Real Madrid superstar was quoted as saying.
“I remember when I arrived in England, they told me things worked like this.
“I went to Manchester as an 18-year-old and they advised me that it was the best mechanism that I could have, like the other players had.
“In Spain, the indication was to pay more so I’d have no problems. I always pay what I have to pay wherever I go because the truth always comes out.
“Did I know my image rights were funnelled through an offshore company? Now I do.”
