Sevilla: New striker not necessary

Sevilla sporting director Oscar Arias has appeared to rule out a move for Inter forward Stefan Jovetic, saying a new striker ‘is not necessary’.

Jovetic netted six goals in 21 appearances for Los Rojiblancos after a loan deal with the Milanese club in January but the two clubs could not agree a fee this summer and a move appears to have now falled through.

“Maybe it's not necessary,” Arias responded at the unveiling of Jesus Navas when questioned about a new striker arriving.

“I think we have two very good strikers at the club (Wissam Ben Yedder and Luis Muriel) alongside two other very good younger players too (Carlos Fernandez and Marc Gual).

“Bringing a third striker into the club would be someone who would not be guaranteed first-team football and who was going to stay in the stands, and would probably be at a big cost.”
