Official: Neymar leaves Barcelona

Barcelona have officially terminated Neymar’s contract after the Brazilian star paid out his €222m release clause ahead of joining Paris Saint-Germain.

The 25-year-old now looks set to join the Parisians after passing a medical and with his lawyers paying the sum in person at Barca's offices, which has now been accepted.

Earlier in the day, La Liga had rejected the payment, officially on the grounds that the move breached UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations, but this was not a legal block.

Javier Tebas, chief of the league, had accused the French club of "financial doping" and stated his organisation’s opposition to the deal.

The Blaugrana’s statement confirmed they "will pass on to UEFA the details of the above operation so that they can determine the disciplinary responsibilities that may arise from this case".

"On Thursday afternoon Neymar's legal representatives visited in person the club's offices and made the payment of €222m in the player's name with regards to the unilateral termination of the contract that united both parties.”
