Betis wait on Javi Garcia

Real Betis are waiting on Javi Garcia to confirm his departure from Zenit Saint Petersburg and return to Spain this month, say reports.

Earlier this week, reports in Marca and ABC de Sevilla stated the 30-year-old has given his word to the Seville-based club that he will join them imminently, signing a four-year contract.

However, despite reports in the Russian media on Tuesday that his agent clarified the former Benfica and Manchester City players had no desire to leave Zenit, those quotes appear to have been misinterpreted.

“The negotiations with Betis are not broken,” his agent Manuel Garcia Quilon told ABC on Wednesday.

El Desmarque reports Garcia will play the second leg of Zenit’s Europa League qualifier against Bnei Yehuda  before confirming his decision to leave.

The player’s wife and two children live in the province of Sevilla, with an instagram post last week stating "I miss them very much, I cannot wait to see my princesses again, it's the worst feeling in the world!”
