Barcelona have confirmed that Neymar wants to leave the club but insist he will not be sold below his €222m release clause.
The Blaugrana’s statement followed widespread media reports on Wednesday that the Brazilian informed his teammates of his decision to leave and left the club’s Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training ground after only 30 minutes.
Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ready to trigger his €222m release clause at the Camp Nou after a carefully constructed deal and having agreed personal terms with the former Santos forward.
"Neymar Jnr., accompanied by his father and agent, communicated to FC Barcelona this morning his decision to leave the club," read the Barca statement.
The move comes after several members of Barca’s first-team squad reportedly requested the 25-year-old clarified his future directly to them.
The world record transfer fee which looks set to take him to the Parc des Princes would smash the world record – more than doubling the amount Manchester United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba last summer.
