Depor ‘waiting’ for Lucas Perez

Deportivo La Coruna’s captain’s armband and number seven shirt are ‘waiting’ for Arsenal striker Lucas Perez, according to defender Juanfran.

The Galician club are said to have lodged a €10m offer for the 28-year-old who joined the Gunners in August 2016 for €20m, with Florin Andone the only recognised striker currently at the Riazor.

“I wish Lucas would come back and join us, it would be a huge jump in quality,” Juanfran told Marca.

“To be honest, we already have a captain [defender Pedro Mosquera], and I am sure we would like the other one to be Lucas.

“I have known him for years and I hope that he returns. His shirt number and captain's armband is waiting, and it would be a huge jump in quality for Deportivo.

“We will have to wait for him and remove other options, as he is the type of player that we need.”

Last week, Marca and Diario AS reported Fenerbahce have also registered an interest in the Spain international but are yet to make an offer to the FA Cup winners.

Perez netted only once in eleven league outings for Arsenal in his sole season in North London where he struggled to dislodge the established attackers at the club, who have since signed Alexandre Lacazette.
