Neymar tells Barca: I’m leaving

Neymar has reportedly told his Barcelona teammates that he will join Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Mundo Deportivo via reports in Brazil, Neymar will not return to Catalonia after Barca’s Clasico friendly against Real Madrid on Saturday night.

Instead, he will board a flight to China, where he will honour advertising commitments on Monday, before passing through Doha to sign a contract with Qatar Sports Investment, PSG’s owners.

The fund would also appoint the forward as Qatar’s ambassador for the 2022 World Cup, in exchange for the €300m that he would then take to La Liga’s offices in Spain in order to free himself from his Barca contract.

Although his release clause stands at €222m, it would rise to €300m due to the French treasury imposing income tax on the deal.

This is because the tax authorities in France would see the transaction as an advance payment to a future employee, in this case the Brazilian.
