Official: Danilo joins Manchester City

Real Madrid have confirmed the transfer of full-back Danilo to Manchester City, with the Premier League club announcing a five-year contract.

Neither City nor Madrid reveal the fee paid for the former Porto player, who joined Madrid in summer 2015.

“I am very, very happy to be joining Manchester City. There has been strong interest from other clubs, but it has always been my ambition to play for Pep Guardiola. As soon as I heard of his interest, I knew immediately I wanted to be a City player,” the 26-year-old told City’s official website.

“I can’t wait to get started and I’m looking forward to getting to know my new teammates over the coming weeks.”

Madrid, meanwhile, issued a statement wishing Danilo the best for the future after 55 appearances for Los Blancos.

“The club wants to show their appreciation for his professionalism, commitment and dedication during his time with Madrid and wishes him all the best in his new stage.”
