Marcelino ‘knows what’s expected’

Marcelino says his Valencia will ‘try to be the team that fans expect’ next season after friendly defeat to the New York Cosmos.

The Americans ran out 2-0 winners in the game held in Canada but Marcelino insisted he was happy despite the defeat.

“The match was even, with chances for both teams. The result isn’t very important for us. We’re happy to have come to play this match, in this extraordinary scenario and we congratulate the Cosmos for their victory,” he said, according to Super Deporte.

“We’ve seen some errors to correct that we hadn’t committed in previous games, but it’s also logical that with the training we’re doing and it serves to focus the attention on the priority, to try and improve and be competitive.

“We know what this club represents in Spain and the rest of the world and we will try next season to be the team that all fans expect.”
