Chelsea not out of Danilo race – reports

Chelsea are not out of the race to sign Real Madrid full-back Danilo despite reports stating he has already agreed to join rivals Manchester City.

Various media reports including the reputable BBC and ESPN have stated the English champions will go ‘head-to-head’ with Pep Guardiola’s side for the Brazilian defender.

Chelsea are reportedly keen to give Victor Moses competition for the right wing-back role while City see Danilo as adaptable and able to play both full-back positions alongside being a holding midfielder.

Sky Sport Italia reported on Wednesday the 26-year-old had agreed a €35m move to the Etihad Stadium although this now appears somewhat premature.

Juventus were strongly linked to the former FC Porto player but they reportedly were unwilling to go upwards of €20m for any deal.

Danilo made just 25 appearances for Madrid last season in his understudy role to Dani Carvajal at right-back.
