Cerezo coy on Diego Costa return

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has reiterated his club cannot sign anyone this summer and Diego Costa ‘is a Chelsea player for the moment’.

The comments come amid intense speculation the 28-year-old striker will return to Atletico as he did not return to Chelsea pre-season training and streamed a live video in his old Los Rojiblancos shirt.

"Costa is a Chelsea player at the moment, and you know for a long time now that we cannot sign anyone [this summer]," Cerezo told Diario AS.

"This shows that pyjamas come in all different colours. Everyone can put on whichever ones they want.

"Diego is a magnificent player, a great player and he was in Spain for many years.

“He has had a good spell in England, learned English, English customs. He will return to Spain someday… but on holiday. Madrid is a lovely place to visit, if you have the money to enjoy it.

"It is a long time since I spoke with him (Costa), at least a year, since he left here. I have seen him with the [Spain] national team, but spoken to him very little."

Despite Cerezo’s claims that his club cannot sign anyone this summer, they have already concluded a €37m deal for Vitolo, who has joined Las Palmas on loan.
