Napoli were too sluggish in their pursuit of Alex Berenguer, who has now joined Serie A rivals Torino from Osasuna.
The 22-year-old moved to the Turin-based side in a move which reportedly took the Partenopei by surprise, having been locked in the negotiations for the winger for six weeks.
“We needed to meet Napoli, we waited 10 days for a phone call from Napoli, but when we tried to contact them, we didn’t get any answers,” Osasuna’s sporting director Francisco Canal told Radio Crc on Monday.
“Torino made us a concrete offer yesterday and we closed talks with the player’s agent almost immediately. It was a very quick deal.”
