Chelsea, City battle for Danilo

Chelsea and Manchester City are going head-to-head to sign Danilo after the full-back’s decision to leave Real Madrid this summer, say reports in Spain.

According to Marca, Zinedine Zidane was persistent in his attempts to persuade the Brazilian to remain at the Bernabeu but he has decided he wants a fresh challenge in England.

Reports from Brazil on Sunday stated English champions Chelsea had agreed a €30m deal agreed for the 26-year-old but Spanish reports suggest this was premature.

Whilst Antonio Conte’s side are firmly interested in the former Porto defender no deal has yet been agreed and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are now interested.

City released both Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta this summer and despite signing Kyle Walker, they missed out on a free transfer for Dani Alves.

The Manchester club want to sign one more top level full-back and believe the Brazil international fits their requirements.
