Osasuna’s winger Alex Berenguer’s proposed move to Napoli now appears to hang in the balance with the Italian giants reportedly unable to fund a move.
According to CalcioNapoli24.it, the club are unable to shift on unwanted forward Emanuele Giaccherini with no rivals willing to take up his €1.5m annual salary.
Marca reported earlier this month that the Italians had sent an entourage to Pamplona to help speed up the deal, which was said to have been held up by interest from Athletic Bilbao.
Los Rojillos are reportedly prepared to sell for below his €9m release clause due to their financial position and relegation from La Liga.
The southern Italian club have reportedly been in discussions with Berenguer and Osasuna since early June but a deal now appears to be on the ropes.
22-year-old Berenguer made 31 appearances for Osasuna last season in their unsuccessful return to Spain’s top flight.
