Dani Alves has appeared to rule out Marco Verratti leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer by stating the midfielder was among the reasons he joined the club.
The former Sevilla and Barcelona full-back joined the Parisians after leaving Juventus this summer, while 24-year-old Verratti has been linked with a summer move to the Camp Nou.
“I came here to play with Marco Verratti, that’s the message I want him to get,” Alves said upon his unveiling in the French capital.
“I hope he can help us win the Champions League.
“I’m only 34 years old and still have much to give. I feel like a youngster ready to start at a new club.”
Alves had been expected to join former Coach Pep Guardiola at Manchester City but will play in Ligue 1 next season.
