City’s Girona Douglas plan

Manchester City will complete the signing of Brazilian midfielder Douglas from Vasco de Gama for €13m before loaning him to Girona, say reports.

Diario Sport pick up on reports in Brazil’s Globoesporte which state the 19-year-old will complete his move to Pep Guardiola’s side before being immediately loaned to the Catalan club.

Borussia Dortmund and Monaco are said to be amongst the clubs to have taken an interest in the highly-rated teenager, but City’s persistence since the start of last season is said to be key in any deal.

La Liga new boy’s Girona are now said to be a de facto ‘satellite club’ for City, as they are now set to be part of the City Football Group – which includes the English club, New York City and Melbourne City.

The Manchester club’s director of football Txiki Begiristain reportedly played a huge role in ensuring Girona completed the permanent signing of Middlesbrough defender Bernardo Espinosa.
