Barcelona have shifted their focus to Chelsea full-back Cesar Azpilicueta after admitting defeat in their pursuit of Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin, say reports in Spain.
According to Marca, the Blaugrana will discontinue their chase for former La Masia defender Bellerin as the Gunners will not sell for under €50m while new Coach Ernesto Valverde is a big fan of the Chelsea defender.
However, Azpilicueta told the Madrid-based paper back in May that he had no intention of leaving Stamford Bridge: "It's flattering that a club like Barcelona can be interested in you. Last year, after a bad season on a collective level, we did not have those types of rumours.
“However, this season we have crowned Champions and this type of information indicates that we have done well.
"Interest from teams of this level is very positive but I am very happy here. I feel very valued by the club and I do not think of anything else."
The former Osasuna and Marseille man played every match of Chelsea’s successful title victory this season and is held in high-regard throughout the Premier League.
