Atletico Madrid striker Luciano Vietto is a target for Premier League club Southampton, following a loan spell at Sevilla, say reports.
According to Sky Sports and ESPN, the Argentine is seen as a viable attacking option by the Saints to replace Jay Rodriguez, who has joined West Bromwich Albion while Sampdoria are also said to be interested.
23-year-old Vietto netted 10 times in 31 matches for the Andalucians last season but did not convince enough in order for Los Rojiblancos to pursue their interest.
Atleti signed the striker in 2015 following a successful season at Villarreal, who had brought the Argentine to Spain from Racing Club in his homeland.
However, the attacker failed to impress in his one season at the Vicente Calderon – scoring just one La Liga goal – and is behind Antoine Griezmann, Kevin Gameiro and Fernando Torres in Diego Simeone’s pecking order.
