Sevilla abandon Amavi after medical

Sevilla have abandoned their move for Aston Villa full back Jordan Amavi, reportedly following the results of his medical tests at the club.

The Andalucians released a statement on their official website on Friday to state the Frenchman would sign a five-year contract, with reports of a €10m deal agreed with Villa.

However, both Estadio Deportivo and ABC de Sevilla now report the move has totally broken down and Los Rojiblancos will return to their search for a new left back to compete with Sergio Escudero.

Amavi suffered a cruciate ligament tear in his right knee midway through the 2015/16 campaign – his first at Villa Park – and unconfirmed reports say this could be an underlying reason for the collapse of the move.

Sevilla are set to announce deals for Argentine midfielder Guido Pizarro and Colombian striker Luis Muriel early this week.
