Chelsea to open Morata talks – report

Chelsea are preparing an offer of €80m for Alvaro Morata although Real Madrid are holding out for €90m, say reports in Spain.

According to Diario AS, the English champions are in a "privileged position" to sign the Spain international as he is an "express order" of Chelsea Coach Antonio Conte, who briefly managed him at Juventus.

However, Los Blancos will now sell the 24-year-old for less than his €90m asking price but the report continues the London club’s working relationship with Madrid is ‘more fluid’ than Manchester United’s and a deal could be reached.

Morata, who scored 15 goals in 14 La Liga starts last season, is reported not to be travelling to the United States with his teammates as he hopes negotiations begin to accelerate.

Chelsea will reportedly increase the striker’s €6m net salary and offer him a five-year deal, after United signed their prime transfer target Romelu Lukaku from Everton.
