Madrid: Ceballos in, Kovacic out?

As reports flow in that Real Madrid will sign Dani Ceballos, Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with a €28m swoop for Mateo Kovacic.

Marca and AS are among the publications claiming Ceballos has agreed a six-year contract with Madrid and that he will undergo a medical on Monday.

Furthermore, the Real Betis starlet would cost Los Blancos €18m and join up with his new teammates in the US on July 21.

He would also become the seventh central midfielder on Madrid’s books, however, meaning one is likely to make way.

According to the Daily Star, the one making way could be Kovacic, who is the subject of a €25m bid from Tottenham.

Kovacic made strides last season, making 39 appearances in all competitions and showing his versatility as a replacement for either Casemiro in defensive midfield or Luka Modric in a playmaking capacity.

Spurs, meanwhile, are reportedly on the lookout for a creative player, with Mousa Dembele turning 30 next Saturday.
