Official: Rossi leaves Celta

Celta Vigo have confirmed striker Giuseppe Rossi has left the club after a season-long loan spell from Fiorentina, and is now a free agent.

The former Italian international signed a one-year deal with Os Celestes last summer with the option of a further year inserted but injury problems have now left the 30-year-old without a club.

“Giuseppe Rossi will not continue with Celta next season,” the club confirmed in a statement.

“The club wishes to express its gratitude to the player, both for his attitude and his great professionalism during his time with the Celeste, besides wishing him good luck for an early and complete recovery from his injury.

“Good luck, Beppe.”

The American-born striker managed 18 La Liga appearances, scoring four times, for Celta following a previous loan stint at Levante.

Rossi ruptured his cruciate ligament in the second half of the season – the fifth serious injury of his career.
