Fabio Coentrao has joined Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid, it has been confirmed.
The 29-year-old posted an image of himself in the stands of Sporting’s Jose Alvalade stadium, with the caption stating he's "very happy with the opportunity to play for this great club."
Diario AS reported last month Los Blancos would be willing to pay 90% of the full back’s wages in order for the move to be processed, although the nature of the deal or indeed official confirmation from either club is yet to be confirmed.
Coentrao moved to the Bernabeu in a €30m deal from Sporting’s Lisbon city rivals Benfica back in 2011 and has been capped 51 times by Portugal.
The defender appeared against Sporting for Los Blancos in their Champions League clash in Portugal last season but has not played more than 10 La Liga matches in one single season for Madrid since 2012-13.
