Fabio Coentrao has paid up €1.7m in back-taxes and fines after appearing court over alleged tax fraud whilst at Real Madrid.
The Portuguese international, who is set to complete a move to Sporting Lisbon, was accused of failing to pay €1.2m of taxes on image rights between 2011 and 2014.
Coentrao faced the same judge – Monica Gomez Ferrer – as club and international teammate Cristiano Ronaldo will later this month in relation to his alleged €14.7m tax fraud.
Both player’s agent is Jorge Mendes who appeared in court on 27 June in relation to the tax affairs of former Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao.
