Official: Femenia joins Watford

Watford have announced the signing of right-back Kiko Femenia from Alaves on a four-year contract.

Femenia joins Watford on a free transfer after his Alaves contract expired.

The 26-year-old was a Spain youth international and turned out for Barcelona and Real Madrid’s B teams, before settling down at Alaves, for whom he played 31 times in La Liga last season.

“I’m extremely happy to be here in this great club. I hope the team has a very good season and hopefully I can do the same,” he told the Hornets’ official website.

“I came here first of all because it’s a new, unique experience. It’s a chance that not every player has, to play in England.

“I come here to give everything I have and to do my best.

“I’m privileged enough to have played against the best teams in the world in Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“When you play against them you learn a lot. It’s completely different here but I want to adapt myself and use my experience from there in this league.

“My ambition is to play as many minutes as possible in the team, to help the team finish as high as possible and to have a great season.”
