Olympique Lyonnais have completed the signing of striker Mariano Diaz from Real Madrid for a reported €8m.
Mariano has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with Lyon and will wear their No 11 shirt, although Marca adds Madrid have retained a buyback clause.
“I’m very happy to be here,” he began at his official unveiling on Friday.
“It’s wonderful to have joined this great club. One of the reasons why I’ve come here is that [Lyon] are one of the best teams in France. I have the opportunity of proving my worth here.
“Our objective is to pass PSG and go as far as possible in Europe. I think this League is one of the best in Europe.
“I’m a competitive player with a strong desire to help the team.”
The 23-year-old scored five goals in just 302 minutes of football for Los Blancos last season but played enough to win La Liga and Champions League medals.
