‘Ronaldo would be irreparable loss’

La Liga chief Javier Tebas admits that while “I’m certain” Cristiano Ronaldo is innocent, him leaving Real Madrid would be “an irreparable loss” for the League.

Ronaldo is reportedly intent on quitting Madrid after prosecutors recently accused him of committing tax fraud to the tune of €14.7m, and Tebas made it clear just how important the Portuguese was to La Liga.

“Knowing his entourage and them to be the professionals they are, I have no doubt that Cristiano is innocent,” the Blancos fan told La Sexta.

“We live in an era when, as soon as any news of the Treasury comes out, everyone’s a defrauder.

“I’m certain that he’s innocent. From what I’ve read, I’m convinced that there’s been no crime committed.

“How his departure would affect La Liga? It can’t be quantified, but he’s very important for us and more so for the international growth of La Liga.

“It would be a very significant loss for us, an irreparable loss.”
