Villarreal have clinched the €14m signing of Sporting Lisbon defender Ruben Semedo, according to reports in Spain.
Marca state the Portuguese defender has completed all the formalities to ensure he is the second arrival at the Yellow Submarine this summer following the arrival of Turkish striker Enes Unal.
On Tuesday, the 23-year-old’s agent was quoted as saying his client had chosen a ‘La Liga’ club ahead of interest in England from Newcastle United and Southampton.
Whilst the deal has not yet been confirmed, it is expected to be made official before the end of the week and potentially as early as Wednesday, according to Marca.
Semedo featured in 24 Liga Nos matches last season, alongside all six of Sporting’s games in the Champions League and previously held enjoyed a loan spell in Spain with Segunda outfit Reus.
