The agent of Sporting Lisbon defender Ruben Semedo reveals his client will join a Spanish club, with the official announcement imminent.
The 23-year-old – who had been heavily linked with moves to Newcastle United and Southampton – looks set to move to La Liga, with Portuguese outlet Record believing Villarreal have sealed a €15m deal.
"We're on the verge of confirming Rúben's transfer, probably today (Tuesday) and we found the best solution in Spain,” Balde is quoted as saying by the paper.
Primarily a central defender but also comfortable playing in a deep-lying midfield role, Semedo would be Villarreal’s second signing of the summer following the arrival of Manchester City striker Enes Unal last week.
Semedo previously had a loan spell in Spain with Segunda outfit Reus, while he has made 47 appearances for Sporting’s first team.
