Florentino: I’d keep everyone!

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez claims “I’d keep everyone” after his club’s Champions League success as “the players we have are the best.”

Madrid clinched a historic, second Champions League in succession on Saturday, courtesy of a 4-1 victory over Juventus, but the likes of James Rodriguez, Alvaro Morata and Pepe have been linked with summer exits.

“We’re very happy, we’ve won, we played very well, I don’t know where to start,” he told Atresmedia.

“This is for the players, the Coach, the fans, the behaviour of the Juventus fans…

“Ballon d’Or? There’s no-one who deserves it more than Cristiano.

“Zidane? He’s a person that all us madridistas have to thank. He elevated our level of talent in 2001 and put on a show.

“He’s done this in 17 months, and in 17 months you can’t do everything.

“Zidane not confirming he will stay on? He said that to free himself of the pressure. He said that he hadn’t won anything, but now he’s won everything.

“We’ll talk to Zizou, who’s the conductor of this orchestra, and there’ll be no problem with anything. If it was up to me, I’d keep everyone.

“Signings? If I told you all the names that have come out… we isolate ourselves from it because some [of the names] haven’t been said with good intentions. I insist, the players we have are the best.

“De Gea? He’s a great goalkeeper who plays for United, I don’t know where he’ll play next season because I’m not a fortune teller.

“Ramos? He’s been a true leader, he’s brought the players together, into a team that are completely united, [regardless of] those who play and those who don’t as much.

“There’s been a communion with the fans, and that has a lot to do with Ramos.

“He’s a true captain, he and Cristiano have let the team dream about everything. We have to thank [the players] and the captains.”
