Verratti closes Barca door

Marco Verratti has seemingly closed the door on Barcelona by asserting “I’m still going to be” at Paris Saint-Germain next season.

Reports had suggested that Barca and Verratti wanted one another, provoked by the Blaugrana’s historic comeback against PSG on the midfielder’s part, but he admitted such a move was unlikely.

“I think I’m still going to be here. We’ll talk to the club, like we’ve done all year,” he said after his side’s Coupe de France Final victory over Angers on Saturday.

“I have a four-year contract, I don’t think I’m going to leave. I’m happy and I’m at a big club.

“I’m certain that we’re going to do very important things next season. We’ll have the opportunity to win trophies.

“I feel very honoured to be part of a project like this. I’ve always said that winning with PSG is very important.

“I’ve been here for five years, it’s like a family.”
