OFFICIAL: Setien new Betis Coach

Real Betis have confirmed the appointment of former Las Palmas Coach Quique Setien on a contract lasting until June 2020.

The former Spain international coached Los Amarillos for 18 months after previous stints at Racing Santander, Logrones, Lugo and the Equatorial Guinea national side.

The 58-year-old is renowned for playing attacking football with a focus on ability and skill, but reportedly fell out with Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez over the January signings of Jese Rodriguez and Alen Halilovic.

"Yesterday I was in yellow and now I am in Green,” read a post from Setien on his twitter account.

“I was sad yesterday for what I am leaving behind and now I am happy for what I am going to.”

Betis endured a tough season with the sackings of Gus Poyet and Victor Sanchez del Amo, finishing 15th in La Liga.
